Dr. Hongshan He, Professor of Chemistry, received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Lanzhou University in 1990 and 1993, respectively, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Sun Yat-sen University in 1996. After a brief experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. He began his academic career as an associate professor at National Huaqiao University, where he was later promoted to full professor in 2004. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at North Dakota State University from 2002 to 2005 and as a research assistant professor at South Dakota State University from 2006 to 2013. In fall 2013, Dr. He joined Eastern Illinois University as a tenure-track assistant professor. He received tenure and promotion to associate professor in 2017 and was later promoted to full professor in 2022. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. He enjoys exercising, including running and biking, as well as cooking.

Anjali Gunadeera is a graduate student in chemistry at Eastern Illinois University. She received her Graduateship in Chemistry (GIC) degree from the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, Sri Lanka, in 2022. She has experience in environmental and analytical laboratory work, including wastewater studies and instrumental analysis. Her current work focuses on photocatalytic chemistry, where she studies light-driven chemical systems and spectroscopic characterization of materials.

Joshua Robinson is currently an undergraduate student in chemistry. He is working on lanthanide complexes for bright near-infrared emitters for medical diagnosis.
