This book was originally written in the text formatting style of LaTex. I have taken the original LaTex document and converted it to an HTML style document. In the process, no doubt I have made many mistakes and probably left stray LaTex commands throughout the document. I have done the best I could given the time constraints. I hope to be able to fix all the remaining problems over time.

I originally intended this book to be used by teachers, especially elementary school teachers. I do not have the time to search for a publisher and I also felt that it would be interesting to try to publish this book on the World-Wide-Web for a number of reasons.

One reason is to reach a wide audience. Another is simply to contribute to the education of students.

There are various links throught the book. Some In-line Images appear to be links but they are only images. I have set links which allow the user to view some of the coded examples. The links are of the form:

Each such page also contains a Return link of the form One can view the code of the given page simply by using the "View Source" option of the browser. It should be noted that the return link is placed inside a different body statement to indicate that it is not a general part of the document. The "Return" link is only there for convenience.

The recurring

link will return the viewer to the Table of Contents and is again for the purpose of convenience.

I have written several projects intended to accompany the book. Most are at the elementary level and are intended to make learning to use the web as painless as possible. These projects are not currently included as of this writing, but I hope to be able to convert them to HTML code over the next few weeks
