Vocalist Tom Birkner and pianist Paul Johnston perform music from the American songbook. Inspired by the collaborations of Tony Bennett and Bill Evans, their concerts include music by celebrated composers and lyricists including Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mercer, and Cole Porter. They also interpret newer music by Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, and Paul McCartney. Their performances have been described as "powerful, authentic and unique" and have been well-received by audiences of all ages.

Birkner and Johnston also are deeply committed to music education and have presented clinics to students and teachers across the Midwest. They enjoy discussing the music's great interpreters and its importance for vocalists and instrumentalists.
