My Stereo
Vacuum tube audio equipment is still around.
Here is a photo of the amplifiers and preamp I built:

The middle unit is the preamp, and the two identical units are the left and right amplifiers.
Here's the preamp before assembly:
Here are the amplifiers:
My speakers are high efficiency, single driver, corner horns. The sound from the back side of the speaker cone resonates through a folded horn to get out of the back of the speaker, at which point, the corner of the walls and floor serves as the mouth of the horn, guiding and directing the sound into the room.
This is the right speaker, sitting in the corner of the room, along with a blueprint of a similarly folded horn speaker, the German Buschhorn.
In the blueprint, you can see where the speaker driver would be, near the top of the right side. The sound is directed through the folded horn until it exits the speaker, at which point, the walls and floor in the corner would continue to direct the sound into the listening area, like the bell of a tuba.
