Doug Lawhead Doug Lawhead is a Macintosh network LAN support specialist II in the College of Arts and Humanities and teaches Journalism 2950 (Visual Communications), Journalism 3001 (News Photography),and Journalism 4751 (Advanced News Photography). He also assists with summer workshops conducted by the Journalism Department, and is the Apple Ambassador of the EIU Apple Users Group (APLUG). Prior to joining the staff at EIU Doug was the head photographer for over ten years at Mid-Illinois Newspapers, publishers of the Charleston Times Courier and the Mattoon Journal Gazette and was previously a reporter and photographer at the Robinson Daily News for 12 years. During his career he has won numerous awards for his work as both a photographer and writer. Doug received a Master of Science in Technology Degree from the EIU School of Technology in 2002 and he is a 1997 graduate of the EIU Board of Governors Bachelor of Arts Degree Program. He is a member of the James Jones Literary Society and is also a licensed pilot and SCUBA diver. In his free time he enjoys attending auto races (he worked as a photographer at every Indianapolis 500 between 1978 and 2000), building historically accurate scale models of military vehicles, fishing, traveling, collecting antique toys and surfing the Internet. He is an admitted roller coaster addict. He and his wife have two sons. |
