: Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies

Book Activities

  • Questions: What is a pirate and what does he or she do? What do you think is going to happen to Henry at the end of the story? 
  • Language arts: Make a dictionary of pirate words and meanings. Have children give book talks on their favorite books. Put in names of favorite books in "treasure" chest,
  • Writing: Make up a pirate name and an adventure.
  • Social Studies: Research famous pirates. Use a map to find out where they sailed. Make a timeline of when they lived.
  • Science: Research weather signs and storms on the ocean.
  • Cooking/Food: Give "gold" (chocolate) coins for reading achievements.
  • Drama: Have the students act out the story using props and costumes.
  • Art: Have the students create a portrait of their own pirate ship with a crew of pirates.
  • Music: Play music from Pirates of the Caribbean.
  • Technology: Create a Kidspiration picture of 10 things you would take to a deserted island.
