Dr. Gaines has been investigating the effects of PCB’s and metals on wildlife species inhabiting the LCP Superfund site in Brunswick, GA.

Dr. Gaines uses stable isotopes to investigate niche partitioning, resource selection and intraspecific bioaccumulation of toxicants.

Dr. Gaines integrates her research to determine risk to both wildlife and humans that utilize contaminated ecosystems.

Dr. Gaines has developed spatially explicit models that predict where wildlife species occur on the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site.
