Little Trojans in Antarctica

During the months of January and February 1997, 7th and 8th grade students in Mr. McCollum's and Mr. Butler's science classes at Charleston Jr. High School in Charleston, IL are active participants in the Live from Antarctica II project. They are following the work of research scientists on board the Research Vessel Polar Duke and at the Palmer Station on Anvers Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula. Topics such as the Antarctic ecosystem, Adelie penguins, krill, and the polar ozone hole are being covered during the three live satellite broadcasts. Research by the LTER team (Long-Term Ecological Research) is being simulated in classroom activities.
