During the fall of 1997, 8th grade students in Mr. McCollum's science classes at Charleston Middle School in Charleston, Illinois are active participants in the Passport To Knowledge Initiative - Live From Mars. This project allows the students to collaborate electronically with NASA scientists and students from other schools in following the progress of the Mars Pathfinder and Mars Global Surveyor missions. They are modeling scientific research, collecting and contributing data, chatting with online guest mission specialists, and will be featured in the November 13th LFM broadcast on PBS.
