V. Robert Charlton. b. bef. 1430, d. 1471, son of Thomas de Knightley de Charlton and Elizabeth Francis. He married Mary Corbet, daughter of Robert Corbet of Morton, Shropshire.
VI. Thomas de Knightley de Charlton. b. 1394, d. 1460, son of William de Knightley and Anna de Charlton. Married Elizabeth Frances (Franceys), dau. of Sir Robert Frances (Franceys) of Foremark.
VII. Anna de Charlton. b. bef. 1380, d. by 1399. Daughter of Thomas de Charlton and unknown wife. She married William de Knightley, son of Richard Knightley of Fawesley, Co. Northampton.
VIII. Thomas de Charlton. b. 1345, d. 1387. Lived at Appleby, Co. Salop. Son of Alan de Charlton and Elena la Zouche.
IX. Elena la Zouche. b. 1288. Daughter of Alan la Zouche, Baron Zouche of Ashby, Governor of Rockingham Castle and Steward of Rockingham Forest, and his wife Eleanor de Seagrave. Married second Alan de Charlton, d. 1360, of Apley, Shropshire.
X. Alan la Zouche. b. 1267, d. 1313/14, Baron Zouche of Ashby, Governor of Rockingham Castle, Steward of Rockingham Forest. He was the son of Sir Roger la Zouche of Ashby and Brockley, d. 1285, Baron Zouche of Ashby, and his wife Ela Longespee. He married Eleanor de Seagrave, probably daughter of Nicholas de Segrave.
XI. Ela Longespee. Daughter of Stephen Longespee and Emmeline de Riddleford. She married Sir Roger la Zouche of Ashby and Brockley, d. 1285, Baron Zouche of Ashby.
XII. Stephen Longespee. d. 1260. Son of William Longespee and Ela, Countess of Salisbury. He married Emmeline de Riddleford, d. 1276, widow of Hugh de Lacey.
XIII. William Longespee. b. 1176, d. 1225/6, Earl of Salisbury. Son of Henry II, King of England, by his mistress, possibly Alix de Porhoet. Married first Ela, Countess of Salisbury, b. 1188, d. 1216.
XIV. Henry II, King of England (Curt Mantel). b. 1132/3, d. 1189. Married Eleanor of Aquitaine in 1153. William had a son by a mistress, probably Alix de Porhoet, who was born 1188 and named William Longespee.
XV. Matilda, Queen of England. Daughter of Henry I, Beauclerc, King of England, and his wife Matilda of Scotland. Matilda was b. 1104, d. 1167. Married first Henry V, Emperor of Germany, who d. 1125. She married second in 1127, Geoffrey V, Plantagenet, Count of Anjou, Duke of Normandy, b. 1113, d. 1151. King Henry II was their son.
XVI. Matilda of Scotland. b. 1079, d. 1118, married 1100 to Henry I, Beauclerc, King of England, b. 1070, d. 1135. She was the daughter of Malcolm III Canmore, King of Scots, b. 1031, d. 1093, and his wife Margaret (St. Margaret of Scotland), b. 1045, d. 1093.
