24. ROUGH AND SMOOTH BOARD #1


MATERIAL:

A board with a rough section and a smooth section.

PRESENTATION:

1. Tell the child that "I am going to show you how to touch the board."

2. Touch the rough board by finger tips three times and said "this feel rough, rough, rough".

3. Touch another smooth board and said "this feel smooth, smooth, smooth".

4. Let the child do it.

POINT OF INTEREST:

To feel the difference of textures.

CONTROL OF ERROR:

None.

DIRECT AIM:

Tactile discrimination of texture.

INDIRECT AIM:

Preparation for writing.

AGE:

2 years.

LANGUAGE:

Smooth, rough.
