Course
Goals:
The goals of the stream ecology course is to 1) Develop
a basic understanding of ecological processes occurring in stream
ecosystems, 2) Develop an appreciation of general ecological
principles
relevant to management of stream ecosystems and 3) Familiarize
students
with the recent literature in stream ecology
Grade:
Pop-quizzes
and hand-in projects worth 100 points
Two
Exams, each worth 100 points
One
research proposal worth 100 point
An
Oral Presentation on your project worth 100 points
A
final exam, worth 100 points
Final
Grade based on 600 points total
Pop-Quizzes and Hand-in Projects:
Short quizzes will be given on an irregular and
unannounced schedule. In addition
you will be expected to lead literature discussions on topic related to
stream
ecology and provide a summary for the class.
Exam
Format:

Research
Proposal:
A research proposal on some aspect of stream ecology is required. The topic for the proposal must be submitted by October 3, 2005 to obtain full credit. The final proposal is due no later than December 5, 2005
