IS:There have been some significant improvements in AuxData since
our last Division meeting. Most of the changes are improvement that
only those who input data see.
However, there is one improvement you will like. Auxinfo now
has a cube for member data. This provides a summary of every individuals
hours in everything they have done. The one drawback is getting there.
Hovering works, but it takes some practice. Also, the report will
be much easier to use if you make some changes after it comes up.
You will want to use the zero suppression button which is on the bottom
and is a 0 with a line through it. This will eliminate all rows/columns
which have no data in them.
If you are wanting the report for your Flotilla, click on the Flotilla
number (for an individual report click on your name, one level further
down). When it comes up you will want to invert the axes, placing
the names down the left side instead of across the top. To do this,
click on the box in the bottom row, around the middle, that has a row of
boxes with an arrow up along the right side and a row of boxes and an arrow
to the left along the bottom, You will also want to use the zero
suppression button (see paragraph above).
If you wish to print this report, or anything in Auxinfo, you can
screen print but that is kind of messy and seldom gets everything you can
see. Go again to the bottom row and the button that is in the last
box (one other icon further right) which says export to PDF. If you
have Adobe downloaded, you can click on this and the file will download
to a PDF format and you can print as usual from there. It frequently
becomes a 2 page file, but is very readable. All FCs have a print
out of their Flotilla’s activity using the PDF format. The thing
about this report, is that Auxinfo is only updated once a week. We
did a lot of data entry October 3. This report was updated October
1, and therefore that info is not reflected in the report you received.
The Unit Summary report was from AuxData and everything is included in
that because it is a real time report.
Thanks for using the new forms!
VE: 1. Asks all to report VSCs to bring up to date.
2. Public can go on line to request VSCs; put your name on the list to
get requests from boaters.
CC: Is going to many college fairs to represent the Academy.
PE: Handed out SpeedGrams with lots of PE information for
us. (SpeedGrams on file)
AN: Our Verifiers on the Illinois River completed all but
two of the lights in our division.(written report on file)
MT: The news this time is on the new single web site location for
all Auxiliary testing. Both open book tests and closed books tests
are in the same location.
8WR has a new testing policy also. All open book tests can
be taken without a proctor. Including the 5-year renewal of Nav Rules.
All closed book tests, including the original Nav Rules test and all Auxop
tests, do require a proctor. All District Auxops have had their names
included in the database as proctors for these tests. They do need
to be present when the test is taken on-line. As before, results
come very quickly and are automatically routed to Diraux (when the test
is successfully completed), so the entire process is speeded up quite a
bit.
To take a test on-line. Go the the National USCGA web site.
Click Members Deck, click Departments, cick Training, click Member eTraining
& Testing. Read the intro and you’re doing it. Best wishes.
Some eTesting results are showing up on the training reports this time.
Keep it up!
