Brother Odd

Dean R. Koontz

Magic Study

Maria V. Snyder

Jenna Starborn

Sharon Shinn

Follow-up to Odd Thomas and Forever Odd, this continues the story of a young man who can see the dead. He's accompanied by the ghost of a dog and the ghost of Elvis. He has retreated to a monastery for some peace, but, of course, it's not to be found as one of the brothers has dangerous plans.

The sequel to Poison Study, this book takes the heroine into a study of her magic skills. She's accused of being a spy, finds her family, and is reunited (for a time) with her lover, the assassin Valek.

A retelling of Jane Eyre amongst the stars. It basically sticks to the plot, but gives it a few good twists - making the heroine an engineer (or technician). It's been slammed for its stilted dialogue, but it's still got some interesting looks at a si-fi future.

of "Expand Your Mind"

Before the movie with Jeff Daniels and Toby McGuire, came this book that is aimed at younger readers. I knew all about Seabiscuit when I was in grade school because of Ralph Moody. But this is a good read for adults, too.
