Faraday's Law

Maxwell's Equations

Maxwell's Equations summarize all of Electricity and Magnetism just as Newton's Laws of Motion summarize all of Mechanics. They can be written as four integral equations -- integrals over a closed surface or integrals around a closed path.

and

are Gauss's Law for the electric field E and the magnetic field B. Electric field lines originate on positive charges and terminate on negative charges. Gauss's Law re-states this. Magnetic field lines do not originate or terminate -- they are continuous loops -- and that is what Gauss's Law for the magnetic field states.

and

tell us that a changing magnetic field causes and electric field and that a changing electric field causes an magnetic field. This is the "basis" of electromagnetic waves!
