Series Circuits

Being in series means that all of the current that passes through one resistor passes through each of the others. The current through R1 is the same as the current through R2 and through R3 -- and through the battery; we will just call that current I.

Consider this string of Christmas lights that are connected in series. What happens if one of the bulbs burns out or is removed?
