BRAVO! That's the right answer!

What is the magnetic force on the proton?

F = (1.6 x 10 - 19 C) (1.2 x 107 m/s) ( 10 - 3 T ) (0.866)

F = 1.66 x 10 - 15 N

This seems like an incredibly small force. What kind of an acceleration will it produce on the proton?
F = m a

a = F / m

a = 1.66 x 10 - 15 N / 1.67 x 10 - 27 kg

a = 9.96 x 10 11 m/s2

It is difficult to realize how very, very small in mass the proton, neutron, and electron really are! Their masses are so very small than what seem like incredibly small forces on them still produce incredibly large accelerations!
