Summary

The "rotational mass" of an object is called its moment of inertia, is labeled I, and depends upon how the mass is distributed. In particular,

I = m r2

With rotational motion, we have another form of Kinetic Energy,

KE = (1/2) I 2

As before, the total energy is conserved,

KErot,i + KEtrns,i + PEi = KErot,f + KEtrns,f + PEf
