For linear motion, we wrote the KE as

KE = ( ^{1}/_{2}) m v^{2}In a similar manner, for rotational motion, we now write the KE as

KE = ( ^{1}/_{2}) I^{2}where I is the "moment of inertia" or the "rotational mass" and is the angular velocity.
